British Speedgolf, have been awarded an allocation of 12 places for their team and expect to field a strong yet diverse field! We’ll be announcing the British Speedgolf team soon, leaving 1 place for an exceptional performance by a player in 2026. Our World’s team allocation is in line with other founding ISGA members but there will also be a strong contingent from newer ISGA members and observer nations whose players have competed elsewhere, with an expectation of approximately 120 players from 20 nations! With the World’s top players expected to compete, this is likely to be the most competitive event in Speedgolf history

British Speedgolf are one of five

founding members of the

International Speedgolf Alliance.

Alongside the US, Japan, New Zealand and Australia. In 2019 Speedgolf Finland was invited to join and in 2024 France, Sweden, Belgium, and Ireland were inducted into the Alliance

Origins of the ISGA (2014–2018)

As Speedgolf expanded outside the USA in the early 2010s, leaders recognized that the sport’s growth required a shared international vision, standardized rules, and collaborative governance. In 2014, Scott Dawley began developing a global framework rooted in national governing bodies, democratic processes, and a unified international alliance. His conviction was simple: Speedgolf’s identity, growth, and Olympic potential would depend on collective stewardship and alignment with the global golf community.

In 2015, Virginia Deigan (Speedgolf Australia) and Pam Painter (British Speedgolf) joined this foundational effort. By 2017, Phil Aickin (Golf New Zealand) and Mike Ishizaka (Speedgolf Japan) added their national perspectives, completing the leadership group needed for a new global era.

In 2018, this multi-year collaboration culminated in the official formation of the International Speedgolf Alliance (ISGA), established by the following founding NSGOs: Speedgolf USA, Speedgolf Australia, British Speedgolf, Golf New Zealand, and Speedgolf Japan.

2018–2024: The Next Chapter of the ISGA Era – welcoming more members

The inaugural ISGA Speedgolf World Championships and Team World Cup (“Worlds Week”) were held in 2018 at Turning Stone Resort in New York, where Speedgolf Finland formally joined. After postponing the 2020 Worlds Week planned for Japan, the ISGA held the next Worlds Week in 2022 at World Golf Village in Florida, USA. In 2024, the ISGA hosted its first World Championships outside the United States in Sakura, Japan, welcoming four new nations: Speedgolf France, Speedgolf Belgium, Speedgolf Ireland, and Speedgolf Sweden—bringing membership to ten national associations.
